Chateau Clos de l'Oratoire Grand Cru Classe 2010
Tasting note:
Le Clos de l'Oratoire is a round and supple wine, very seductive with its powerful aromas of fruit and its beautiful deep purple color. The Merlot gives it both roundness and opulence, while the Cabernet Franc brings power, aromatic complexity and length on the palate. If it can be drunk from the age of seven, the Clos de l'Oratoire is above all a wine to enjoy.
Chateau Clos de l'Oratoire
Clos de L'Oratoire is a wine estate in Saint-Émilion and belongs to the Count Stephan von Neipperg, who also owns the big names Canon La Gaffelière and La Mondotte in the same municipality, among others.
The Château Clos de l'Oratoire comes from a 13-hectare vineyard located on the north-eastern slope of Saint-Emilion, from a soil composed of the famous Fronsac sandstones, formed by a layer of sandy soil and a clayey subsoil, ideal for cultivation from Merlot .
The result of a blend in which Merlot predominates, accompanied by Cabernet Franc, is the result of painstaking work in the vineyard culminating in a manual and careful harvest of the grapes. The fermentation takes place for 22-30 days in oak barrels that enrich the wine with color and aromas and let it come into its own. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in 80 % new French oak barrels.
Dark crimson in color, it releases powerful fruity aromas and earthy nuances on the nose. On the palate it is round and luscious thanks to the massive presence of Merlot , while Cabernet Franc helps to give strength, aromatic complexity and long final persistence.
Perfect for excellent preparations based on red meat or game. Recommended in the company of a roasted pheasant or a good platter of aged cheeses
