La Mancha red wines La Mancha is best known for its Young wines also called Joven which are fresh and fruity. recently added grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot in L a Mancha may well provide Crianza wines. 160,000 Hectares have been planted in La Mancha and 75 % of this is red wine. The most common grape varieties are Tempranillo , Airen, Garnacha tinta, incidentally, 20 % white wine and 5 % rose wines are made. In the 1960s and 1970s, the price of land was relatively cheap and many winegrowers set up their business and benefited from the sun in this area . There is a continental climate and there are no clouds for up to 210 days a year.
