Tasting note:

Colour: A very dark ruby red shade. Nose: Blackberry and floral aromatics (violets and peonies) and a hint of crushed blackcurrant mixed with subtle hints of licorice and chocolate. Taste: notes of blackberries, strawberries and hints of red berries mixed with nuances of blackberries, violets and delicate hints of licorice. 40 year old vines, the wine from this Chateau is certainly among the top 10 of the appellation.

This wine is of course next to the Grand Cru Classé wines from Bernard Magrez: Château Pape Clément, Château La Tour Carnet, Château Fombrauge and Clos Haut Peyraguey. Located in exceptional terroir and overlooked for too many years, this estate was revived by Bernard Magrez. It was a project he had been thinking about for 10 years. During that time he had been searching for that special jewel, that excellent terroir in which a great wine could be born, and he finally found it here on the famous hill of Saint Christoly-du-Médoc, which overlooks the place where the river meets the ocean. He invested all his knowledge and passion into the new project, just as he had done on his 4 Grand Cru Classé estates. Today this estate has achieved international fame for both its special qualities and its value for money,
