This Frisian distiller is now a French winegrower. In 2009, after a long search, Jodocus Boomsma and his wife found Château Beaulieu in the Côtes de Bourg. A really nice place to fulfill a long cherished wish: "making your own wine". Jodocus has already gained a lot of experience in the wine world and imported wines from all over the world for more than 30 years.
Now he wants to produce the best wines of the Côtes de Bourg himself, assisted by a renowned oenologist. Château Beaulieu consists of 17 hectares of vineyards and a beautiful seventeenth century country house.
AOC Cotes de Bourg
Château Beaulieu is located 35 km northwest of Bordeaux and 4 km north of the city of Bourg and the Dordogne river in a beautiful valley with an area of 25 hectares and surrounded by forests.
The vineyard is located on a plateau of limestone with clay layers, 60 meters above sea level. The vineyard of 17 hectares in AOC Côtes de Bourg is composed of 60 % Merlot , 15 % Malbec , 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 5 % Cabernet Franc.
